Matter of Contention
Oil on Canvas
16" x 20"
Sold
In my travels throughout the West, I have always been drawn to the different shapes of irrigation pumps and to their weathered, utilitarian beauty. This pump was in northern California, surrounded by dry fields. It was a fitting reminder of the years-long drought of that state and of the contentious dialogue that always accompanies water and water rights in the West.
This painting was juried into the California Art Club 2017 Gold Medal Exhibition, where it sold.
